Location: The small town of Bardolino is primarily known for the eponymous, quaffable and extremely popular red wine, which is grown in the immediate hinterland and can be tasted and bought almost everywhere here.
If you explore the area of Bardolino inland, you will find yourself in the middle of vineyards and olive groves in no time. The hill country on the southeastern shore of Lake Garda was supposedly settled and cultivated in ancient times. The Romans are also said to have been the ones who named the village (and the wine) after one of their princesses.
Today's Bardolino has between six and seven thousand inhabitants. In addition to its reputation as a renowned wine-growing area, it enjoys the reputation of a sought-after vacation resort, the center of which stretches between the two headlands of Punta Cornicello and Punta Mirabello. Its popularity is due in no small part to the fact that the town boasts numerous good hotels in all price ranges, a beautiful old town, wide promenades and shopping streets, and an attractive waterfront promenade.
There are also nice beaches - for example north of Punta Cornicello, where inviting lawns and shady trees reach all the way to the lake shore. Also good for swimming and soaking up the sun is the Lido Mirabello lido on the southern peninsula.
