Location: The market town of Sillian in Alta Pusteria, located at the foot of the Thurntaler, consists of the fractions Arnbach, Sillian and Sillianberg and is one of the largest in Alta Pusteria with more than 2,000 inhabitants. Sillian is the home of many important Tyroleans, such as Josef Schraffl, the first governor of Tyrol, Adam Purwalder, the author of the "Everyman Trilogy" as well as the knight Blasius Hölzl.
Active holidaymakers are in the right place in Sillian, because this is where the well-known Carnic High Altitude Trail starts. Cyclists, on the other hand, will especially enjoy the 200 km long Drava Cycle Path, which leads all the way to Marburg. In winter, everything revolves around the "Hochpustertaler Bergbahnen": whether you are a beginner or an experienced skier, you will feel right at home on the more than 45 km of perfectly groomed slopes. With the children's club "Bobo" and the ski school, even the little snow bunnies will want for nothing. Pistes, punch and powder snow - in Sillian you will want for nothing.
Also culturally Sillian has a lot to offer: from monuments like the only preserved pillory column from the Middle Ages in Tyrol to the baroque parish church Maria Himmelfahrt built in 1431 - Sillian has a lot to offer. Numerous religious festivals are also celebrated here, such as the Sacred Heart Festival in June, when the mountains light up the night sky in the bright glow of flames.
