Location: Koločep is a small island in the Adriatic Sea, belonging to the Elafiti group. It is located about 10 km northwest of Dubrovnik and can be reached by a regular ferry service. The island is known for its unspoiled nature, picturesque bays, crystal clear waters and historical sights.
Koločep has an area of only 2.44 square kilometers and is surrounded by steep cliffs that plunge into the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea. The island is covered with lush vegetation, including pine forests, olive groves and cypress trees. There are no cars on the island, which makes it a quiet and relaxing place.
There are two villages on Koločep, Gornje Celo and Donje Celo, which are connected by a 3 km long coastal path. Both villages have restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy local dishes and drinks. The most famous beach on the island is Šunj, which is located on the southern side of the island and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia.
In the surroundings of Koločep there are numerous other islands and bays that can be explored by boat. One of the most famous sights near Koločep is the city of Dubrovnik, often referred to as the "Pearl of the Adriatic". The city is known for its historic old town, which is surrounded by a well-preserved city wall from the Middle Ages. There are also numerous museums, churches and palaces in Dubrovnik that reflect the city's rich history and culture.
North of Koločep is the Pelješac peninsula, famous for its wines and oysters. There are numerous picturesque villages and towns here, including Ston, known for its impressive city walls and salt marshes.
