Location: The municipality of Caldes and its fractions Samoclevo, S. Giacomo, Cassana, Tozzaga, Bordiana and Bozzana are located in the lower part of the Val di Sole valley.
Caldes, which is mainly agricultural, is surrounded by numerous apple orchards and eastern meadows (Melinda cultivation area).
In the eastern part of the village are the historical walls of Castel Caldes, the legendary castle built in 1230 AD. Over the centuries it has been rebuilt several times and recently restored. Next to the castle there is a small and interesting chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary, with beautiful frescoes by Elia Naurizio.
Particularly characteristic are the fractions of Caldes: for example, Samoclevo with its castle at the foot of Monte Vesa, which lies at almost 1,000 meters above sea level and overlooks the entire lower part of the Val di Sole valley.
