Property description Old stone farmhouse near the thermal baths of Rapolano - Tuscany

This property is ideal for those looking for peace and relaxation in one of the Tuscan areas where there are numerous thermal baths and tourist resorts.
Just two km from the famous thermal baths of Rapolano in the immediate vicinity of the beautiful village of Santa Cecilia, an old stone farmhouse, recently renovated, with an area of about 340m2, on a site with a total area of about 4,000m2. A well-kept garden of about 2,000m2 stands the building with a picturesque setting characterized by different levels of land, stone staircases, brick arches and tall cypress trees, and a beautiful pool of 10x5m surrounded by a sun terrace, ideal for moments of relaxation in complete privacy.
The first floor consists of a large entrance hall, a large living room with fireplace, a kitchen, a dining area and a technical room, while the upper floor is divided into three bedrooms, one of which is located on the mezzanine and each has its own bathroom. The property is completed by a second building of about 60m2, used as a garage, and about 2,000m2 of land with coppice and high forest and an olive grove of another 2,000m2, located about 6 km from the property in the direction of Serre di Rapolano.
The installations are all in place and work perfectly: the heating is underfloor and is fed by a pallet boiler, there is an irrigation system and 3 wells and a cistern of about 15,000 liters, the sewage disposal has been carried out with a dispersion drainage and an Imhoff tank.
A beautiful property, ideal for those who want to enjoy tranquility and extreme relaxation in one of the areas of Tuscany characterized by the presence of thermal waters and close to many tourist resorts. Siena is 30 km away, Montepulciano 32 km, Arezzo 42 km.

Location: Rapolano is located in the Terre di Siena, not far from the city of the Palio, in the seemingly barren, vast landscape of the Crete Senesi. The town harbors a warm heart, which it owes to its thermal springs that bubble up from the earth here with healing powers. It is said that even Giuseppe Garibaldi, lying in one of the still existing travertine tubs, found relief from his ailments in these miraculous waters. Here you can spend a vacation with hot baths, water massages and mud wraps, combining restful relaxation with excursions in a landscape that is the epitome of Tuscany. The two thermal baths Antica Querciolaia and Terme di San Giovanni are peaceful places in the middle of an incomparable landscape.
From Rapolano you can enjoy a splendid view over the Tuscan countryside. Entering the town through Porta Nuova and crossing Piazza Matteotti, you come to the oldest part, called "Castellare", with the church of San Bartolomeo (where a monumental nativity scene is set up every year), Palazzo Cacciaconti and Palazzo Pretorio, which now houses the municipality.
Just outside the center of town are the two famous thermal baths, Terme Antica Querciolaia, home to the travertine pool where Giuseppe Garibaldi found relief, and Terme San Giovanni, whose thermal pools are surrounded by rolling hills dotted with vineyards and olive groves.
Those who want to spend an exciting day with the family can visit the Saltalbero Adventure Park, which offers a climbing course in the trees, divided by age and difficulty level, and an area where you can relax in the shade of oak trees.
Not far from Rapolano you can find the medieval castle of Armaiolo, which was the scene of a bloody battle between Siena and Florence. The town, characterized by a narrow maze of alleys, is also said to have hosted Caterina di Jacopo di Benincasa, better known as St. Catherine of Siena.
The Terre di Siena invite you to go trekking and cycling. If you want to go for a nice hike, you can follow the Via Lauretana that connects Siena and Cortona, passing through cornfields and over the clayey hills of the area on dirt roads and also passing by Serre di Rapolano.
But nature has given Rapolano not only the power of water, but also that of stone. Another precious resource of this area is the travertine. This porous but solid rock has been quarried since the 16th century and still represents an important economic activity in the area. It was used to build, among others, the church of San Biagio in Montepulciano and the facade of the Cathedral of Pienza.
